Midori’s sophomore edition introduced expanded experiential activities, including workshops, foraging sessions and art installations
Hong Kong’s boutique electronic music festival, Midori, made a memorable return this October, following the success of its debut event in May.
Organised by y2k and Omni Agency, the second edition of Midori delivered an even more immersive and expansive experience, spanning the Chung Yeung Festival long weekend from October 11-13.
Set in a breathtaking private rural location within a scenic valley, Midori offered attendees a three-day, two-night escape filled with an expertly curated selection of house, techno and bass music.
The festival's line-up showcased an impressive array of local talent, featuring groups like Spin Sum, Surprise Surprise, Abyss and Yeti Out. This year, Midori enhanced its focus on experiential elements, staying true to its mission of creating a well-rounded festival experience. Alongside its exceptional musical program, the festival celebrated Hong Kong’s captivating landscapes and diverse cultural spirit.
Building on the inaugural event, this second edition introduced expanded experiential activities, including workshops, foraging sessions and art installations. On Friday and Saturday afternoons, festival-goers set up campsites and participated in various workshops, from music production to ceramics. Attendees had the chance to listen to engaging presentations on environmental issues, enjoy an impressive range of food and drinks, and relax in the picturesque rural setting, where new connections were easily made.
Hong Kong-based Ukrainian photographer Roman Olinchuk captured compelling moments throughout the festival, with his photos vividly bringing Midori’s unique energy and atmosphere to life.
An Instagram post by the festival team reads: “We’d particularly like to thank our production partners: Point of You Design Ltd for the beautiful stage design, Greenlight Lighting for the incredible lighting and lasers and Shumking Mansion for the banging sound, as well as the wonderful, hardworking people who operate our venue, Yio. And we are incredibly grateful to all DJs, festival staff, workshop hosts, and F&B and market vendors who made the long journey out to our beautiful valley and contributed to this unforgettable weekend that immersed us all in music, nature and culture. And huge thanks also to all of you who travelled to the festival and supported us - we hope you enjoyed your time at Midori as much as we did.”
