Alfie Allen crafts a visual dialogue for Elijah's creative manifesto
London-based DJ and music producer Elijah is set to release “Close The App, Make The Ting”, a thought-provoking collection of reflections on the creative industries, via Velocity Press in February 2025. The 160-page book delves into Elijah’s viral social media posts, which challenges artists, DJs and industry figures to rethink their creative approach.
Central to the book's visual identity is Alfie Allen, an independent graphic designer and art director based in London. Known for his nuanced work in typography and image-making, Allen's design for the book complements the book’s themes. His multidisciplinary practice, which spans music, fashion and contemporary art, brings a dynamic visual coherence to Elijah’s ever-evolving ideas.
Allen’s portfolio includes collaborations with high-profile clients such as XL Recordings, Burberry and Boiler Room, as well as his tenure as Creative Director at Crack Magazine and Senior Designer at XL Recordings. His work for Elijah's book is another addition to his impressive career, which balances identity, brand direction and visual storytelling.
“Close The App, Make The Ting” offers a collection of ideas first shared by Elijah in 2021, as the UK emerged from the Covid-19 lockdowns. These ideas—born from simple Instagram posts—developed into a multimedia project, encompassing visual installations, an album with grime MC Jammz, a club night and a global lecture series. Elijah’s vision, now encapsulated in this book, invites creators to reconsider the norms and adopt new, adaptable perspectives for the 2020s.
