Multi-instrumentalist and synth wizard Paul White has released the 2nd single, “Glory In Stories”, from his forthcoming album, “Peace In Chaos”
Multi-instrumentalist and synth virtuoso Paul White has unveiled the second single, "Glory In Stories," from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, "Peace In Chaos."
Preparing to release his third album under R&S Records, White delivers a cinematic exploration on "Peace In Chaos," reflecting the prevailing mood through its dark and intricate electronic soundscapes.
With a deep-seated affection for 80s synth music and cinematic scores, the South London-based producer offers an album filled with some of his most pop-oriented tracks to date, following the success of 2018's "Rejuvenate" and 2014's "Shaker Notes." Over the course of eleven tracks, White immerses listeners in an otherworldly electronic pop realm, where layers of melodic synths seamlessly blend with commanding drum patterns and resounding basslines, with White's own enigmatic vocals weaving through the compositions.
Discussing the conceptual underpinnings of his album, Paul reveals his artistic approach: “I’ve always heard music in a very visual way. I’d like to put this album out there as film, or game scenes, and it’s a movie or game about trying to find peace in a chaotic world.” This perspective drives the album's production, with each track acting as a visual narrative, embodying the search for calm within the disarray.
Having previously lent his songwriting and production talents to artists such as Danny Brown, Sudan Archives, and Jessy Lanza, White now takes centre stage on "Peace In Chaos," fully embracing the roles of writer, performer, producer and engineer, showcasing his impressive studio mastery and distinct ability to craft compelling, resonant tunes.
This second single, “Glory In Stories”, follows on from the first album single, “First Sight”, which came out last month. The visual art accompanying both singles brilliantly encapsulates Paul's synesthetic approach to music. The artwork for "First Sight," designed by Benny Ben, and the visual representation for "Glory In Stories" and the album artwork, crafted by Kims Mihailovs, serve as striking reflections of how Paul perceives music in a vividly visual manner.
