Attendees will have the chance to continue the celebration at an exclusive afterparty

Daft Punk’s iconic anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem is set to make its return to the big screen in Los Angeles, remastered in 4K and enhanced with Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound for an exclusive, one-night-only premiere. On Monday, September 30, fans will converge at the United Theatre on Broadway for an immersive celebration of the legendary duo’s interstellar narrative.

Originally unveiled in 2003 as a visual companion to Daft Punk’s seminal album Discovery, Interstella 5555 was co-created by anime icon Leiji Matsumoto and helmed by director Kazuhisa Takenouchi. This singular, dialogue-free production traces the journey of the Crescendolls—a group of blue-skinned extraterrestrial musicians—as they use the power of their music to overcome malevolent cosmic forces.

The special Los Angeles screening is co-hosted by Daft Punk and IHEARTCOMIX, forming part of the latter’s 20th-anniversary festivities. The event will also include a panel discussion featuring Daft Punk’s former manager Pedro Winter (aka Busy P) and the film’s co-writer Cédric Hervet, offering fans an insider’s perspective on the creation of this cinematic gem and Daft Punk’s pioneering influence on music and visual storytelling.

Attendees will have the chance to continue the celebration at an exclusive afterparty, with a DJ set from Busy P and guest performances, adding yet another nostalgic twist to this unforgettable tribute to Daft Punk’s artistic legacy.

The remastered 4K version of Interstella 5555 made its North American debut at New York City’s Tribeca Festival earlier this June, setting the stage for its highly anticipated appearance in Los Angeles.
